With over 50 art galleries throughout the city, the popularity and growth of the First Friday's Art Walk along the new Arts & Cultural District and the city being home to the top public art school in the country, it is no wonder Richmond is becomming known as Virginia's arts capital. From paintings and photography, to murals to pottery and jewelry design, Richmond is the place to discover art for yourself.

Art Galleries

Richmond has an impressive array of art galleries and studios such as the 1708 Gallery, a non-profit group of artists that is one of the first galleries in Richmond, to Plant Zero, located in Manchester.

Art Education

As home to the top public art school in the country, ranked 4th school overall, the VCU School of the Arts is a premier school of art education. Building upon that, the city is home to a number of other significant art education centers and programs including the Visual Arts Center of Richmond and Plant Zero.

Art Museums

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is well-known throughout the world as one of the premier art museums, and is the 10th largest art museum in the country. Virginia Commonwealth University has plans to break ground soon on a new Modern Art Museum.
